Mission Statement

BASEF is one of the oldest and largest science fairs in Canada, currently in its 64th year. BASEF provides a forum for students in Hamilton,Ontario, the Regional Municipality of Halton, Six Nations and the Counties of Haldimand, Norfolk and Brant to develop their scientific skills and prepare for the national and international science fair competitions.

About This Cause

BASEF conducts a 3-day annual science fair for the exhibition and competition of science, engineering, technology and mathematics projects by students in grades 7 to 12 from Hamilton, Halton, Brant, Norfolk and Haldimand counties and Six Nations. BASEF awards monetary prizes and sends a team of 16 top students to compete at the Canada Wide Science Fair and 3 students to compete at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair. BASEF mentors the students attending the national and international fairs and provides the funding for the trips for the students to attend these fairs. BASEF also organizes activities in science, engineering, technology and mathematics as part of the fair experience. BASEF also promotes participation in project based science and awareness of science, engineering, technology and mathematics in BASEF's catchment area.
