Our center is a haven, providing vital treatment, unwavering support, and a secure refuge for women embarking on the journey to overcome challenges associated with substance use, trauma, and mental health. At the forefront of compassionate care, The Jean Tweed Centre stands as a preeminent not-for-profit community-based organization dedicated to uplifting vulnerable women and children. Distinguishing itself as the sole non-profit of its kind equipped with a Child Development Centre in Ontario, Jean Tweed is unwavering in its commitment to transformative support. Through a dedicated focus on instilling essential life skills and promoting healthy habits, we serve as architects of change, assisting our clients in constructing a fresh beginning and paving the way for a brighter future. About This Cause
For four decades, the Jean Tweed Centre has been a beacon of hope, support, and healing for those in need. Annually, we extend counseling and care to over 1,700 women and their families, positively impacting the lives of more than 8,500 individuals. Our unwavering commitment includes a special focus on supporting mothers, caregivers, and children, embodying a uniquely women-centered perspective in our work. Utilizing a research-based and trauma-informed approach, Jean Tweed empowers women to navigate complex challenges and access the support needed for their journey. Over the years, our range of services has expanded, including residential and day programs, outpatient programming with a focus on family and trauma counseling, one-on-one counseling, continuing care and support, outreach initiatives for pregnant women and mothers, as well as programs for incarcerated women and those involved with the justice system. Notably, we house a licensed therapeutic child development center, recognizing the holistic needs of families. Our mission is a collaborative endeavor to provide innovative, accessible, and effective services to women and their families grappling with substance use, trauma, mental health, and/or gambling concerns (and so much more!). Rooted in our values of being women-centered, strength-based, trustworthy, inclusive, equitable, and trauma-informed, we strive to create positive transformations in the lives we touch. The Jean Tweed Centre offers an array of programs and services, encompassing the Day program, Residential and Live-in programs, individual and group counseling, trauma services, support for mothers and caregivers, supportive housing, justice programs, continuing care, support for friends and family, a women's education fund, and much more. Our comprehensive approach aims not only to address immediate challenges but to empower women and their families, fostering a new beginning for a brighter future.
