Mission Statement
The Fellowship Centre has operated a drop in centre since 1964 and offers shelter and comfort to the vulnerable, disadvantaged and displaced. It is the only operation giving refuge from the streets to the marginalized citizens. In addition to Kenora, we also serve the transient community, and those in need hailing from nearby Aboriginal communities.
About This Cause
The drop in offers a vast array of services including a soup kitchen, food bank, clothes cupboard, street clinic, information and referrals, hosts legal clinics, haircuts, art therapy, shower, laundry, traditional Ojibway services in addition to providing a place of safety and comfort to gather. An average of 75 people per day use the drop in services. Clients of the shelter arrive are encouraged to shower. They are given bedding and sleepwear for the night, as well as an evening meal. Overnight their clothing is laundered and they are provided with breakfast before departure. Clients are welcome to use the drop in facility and soup kitchen during the day. There is also a continuous tea and coffee service for the patrons who attend the Centre during the day, along with cookies and dainties if provided through donation.
