About This Cause

Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre has been rehabilitating injured, sick and orphaned wildlife for their return to the wild since 1984. We are a volunteer-driven, registered charity that has cared for over 55,000 wildlife who play a vital role in the ecological and biological processes that are essential to life itself. We rely on the generous support of volunteers and donors like you to rehabilitate wildlife and educate about the awareness, appreciation and peaceful coexistence with wildlife. Formed in 1984 by a group of environmentally concerned citizens who cared about the successful rehabilitation of injured, sick and orphaned wildlife, Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre was first known by the name Manitoba Wildlife Rehabilitation Organization (MWRO). Volunteers started the organization out of their backyards before moving to the University of Manitoba’s Glenlea Research Station in 1993. In 2003, MWRO started operating as the Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre and in 2008 moved to a retired dairy barn in Île des Chênes, Manitoba - only 8 minutes from Winnipeg. We moved into Wildlife Haven’s first permanent home with a wildlife rehabilitation hospital and education centre in 2019. Vision A centre of excellence in wildlife rehabilitation and education. Mission Rehabilitating injured, sick and orphaned wildlife for their return back to the wild. Educating about awareness, appreciation and peaceful coexistence with wildlife. Rescue. Rehabilitate. Release.
