About This Cause
The Open Door Sanctuary is a registered charity which relies upon our dedicated volunteers and upon the financial generosity of those who believe, as we do, that humankind has an ethical responsibility to serve one another. In Victoria, BC, our community has been doing so since the 1860’s, both spiritually and materially, locally and globally, as an independent, non-profit society with no outside means of support. The Open Door offers spiritual resources, healing for those in distress, and material assistance to those who find themselves in need. Historically spiritualists have led the way in implementing the great social changes of our age, and we continue this legacy in actively supporting both humanitarian and environmental movements that make a difference, not just to the one but to the many. Your support allows us to provide our unique and specialized spiritual services here at home. You make it possible for us to expand our educational programs, to sponsor benefit events for the wider community, to provide a spiritual sanctuary for those who grieve or who are seeking peace, to continue our spiritual healing services to the public, and to offer much-needed material assistance to our neighbours. In 2016, a large corporation has begun a massive development in our immediate neighbourhood and we, like many others, are being forced to move from our present location. Since 1939, the Open Door Sanctuary has served thousands upon thousands of individuals at our present location on Cook Street, welcoming those who seek guidance, spiritual healing, personal inspiration, communication from loved ones, or simply the support of a compassionate community. Your help is essential in order that we may continue our service uninterrupted.
