Mission: Empowering youth through prevention, intervention and support in accessing safe and sustainable housing. Vision: All youth have a place to call home.
About This Cause
Our Place is a registered non-profit agency that provides shelter, support and hope for homeless and at-risk youth aged 16-24 in the Region of Peel. Our core programs include: - Emergency Youth Shelter - 20 bed shelter for youth to find safety, housing supports and resources in Mississauga; - Brampton Youth Shelter - 40 bed shelter for youth to find safety, housing supports and resources in Brampton; - Mental Health Program - mental health support including interventions, assessments and systems navigation; - Resource Room - programs and workshops for skills development, housing searches, employment and education; - Refresh For Youth Programs - includes “Refresh Your Network” mediation and counselling for youth and their identified family and Natural Supports, “Refresh Your Skills” to improve social and emotional learning skills through cognitive group work, and “Refresh Zone” a weekly ‘safe space group’ for youth that focuses on a positive solution-focused discussion around current issues and concerns identified by them with the guidance of mental health workers; - H.Y.P.E. (Helping Youth Prepare Effectively) - helping youth experiencing homelessness secure and maintain housing through advocacy, education and building positive relationships; - Home for Good - Home for Good is a collaborative of community organizations working together to help individuals experiencing homelessness find and maintain permanent housing. We are proud of our accomplishments over the last 35 years, and know that there is still a lot to be done. We look forward to continuing to improve the lives of youth who are disadvantaged and experiencing homelessness in the Region of Peel.
