Mission Statement
Ronald McDonald House Charities® Alberta’s programming and accommodations provide a home-away-from-home for any family with a sick or injured child. A supportive and caring environment enabling all families with a sick or injured child to access healthcare. "This place has been a haven for our families and an incredible blessing. We were so lucky to have something like this so we didn’t have to travel an hour each way to see our children. About This Cause
When a child becomes ill, a family’s life is turned upside down. In addition to the emotional and financial burdens they face, for the 70% of Canadians not living in a city with a children’s hospital, there is an additional burden: distance. Many families with sick children have to travel hundreds of miles to receive the medical attention they need. We help these families. From a home-cooked meal to a shoulder to cry on, RMHCA alleviates these burdens so that families can focus on what matters most...their child. Ronald McDonald House Charities® Alberta provides a home away from home for families seeking treatment for seriously ill or injured children in an Alberta medical facility. There are four Houses across the province: Edmonton, Red Deer, Calgary, Medicine Hat. Along with accommodation, our compassionate and comfortable Houses support easing the financial and emotional burdens for families with sick children. Families have access to meals, recreation, laundry, and various support services (including pet therapy) and much more. Your donations ensure that the Houses, programs, and services are always there for families when they are in need. Our Houses rely on volunteers, donors, and supporters in the community to help keep families close to their children and the valuable medical services so vital to their health.
