About This Cause
St. Aidan's Society provides Outreach and Advocacy services to the seniors of the Region through program delivery and partnerships. We provide supports to seniors that allow them to remain as independent as possible for as long as possible. Our team of professional social workers completes detailed assessments and ensures services and supports are targeted to the most compromised areas of a seniors health and well-being. Our Outreach Program also operates a volunteer program where community volunteers are matched with seniors in need. Volunteers are used to keep seniors connected to community, to assist with shopping or medical appointments or to ensure they are not lonely and isolated. St. Aidan's also established a collaborative that saw the completion of a coordinated community response model to elder abuse. For the first time in our Region, there is a coordinated and efficient system in place to protect seniors from abuse, neglect and mistreatment. The Society also has a Community Projects portfolio which operates the McMurray All Connected Community Calendar (the MAC), the community Interagency Group and Community Distribution List. The Community Projects Coordinator assess emerging needs and develops action plans that provided a coordinated response to these needs. St. Aidan's works to ensure older adults have the supports and services they need to age at home, in community and in the setting most appropriate to their needs.
