Mission Statement

Mission: Preserving a ribbon of wilderness, for everyone, forever. Vision: The Bruce Trail secured within a permanently protected natural corridor along the Niagara Escarpment

About This Cause

For more than 50 years, the Bruce Trail Conservancy (‘BTC’) has been dedicated to acquiring, protecting and restoring vulnerable habitat and biodiversity of the Niagara Escarpment UNESCO World Biosphere while responsibly connecting people to nature through 1,300 km of Bruce Trail. The Bruce Trail is the catalyst and conduit for Niagara Escarpment conservation, active recreation, and healthy living. As one of the Ontario’s largest land trusts, the BTC receives donations of land, and purchases land along the Bruce Trail; protecting these natural environments from development and preserving them in perpetuity. Once acquired and under the care of the BTC, the land, as well as the wildlife and plants that live in these environments, are responsibly cared for, conserved and rehabilitated to ensure the ecological sustainability of the Bruce Trail and the Niagara Escarpment today, and into the future. A membership-based, volunteer-driven charity, the BTC is a community of more than 11,600 engaged and passionate members and 1,450 volunteers who keep our Trail and our Escarpment lands safe, accessible and ecologically viable. The BTC has been rated one of the most effective charities in Canada according to Charity Intelligence. The generous philanthropic gifts of our annual donors provide the critical resources necessary to fund our work.
