About This Cause

Founded in 1984, The Food Bank of Waterloo Region (The Food Bank) was the first organization of its kind in Ontario. Forty years later, The Food Bank continues to evolve to ensure no one goes hunger. We are at the centre of the Community Food Assistance Network The Community Food Assistance Network consists of 54 organizations and 132 food assistance programs. Working together, these organizations address hunger by providing food hampers, community meals, nutritional outreach, and shelter and residential meals. We acquire, coordinate, and distribute more than 8 million pounds of fresh, frozen, and non-perishable food. We also work with provincial and national partners – Feed Ontario and Food Banks Canada – as part of the Food Bank Distribution Services (FBDS) to acquire, coordinate, distribute food throughout Southwestern Ontario, helping programs and agencies continue their essential work. The Food Bank is a registered charitable organization. Learn more at: www.thefoodbank.ca.
