Mission Statement

Our Mission is to preserve and promote the community spirit of Transcona, through sharing our history and stories for the benefit of all.

About This Cause

The Transcona Museum collects, exhibits, preserves, and interprets the cultural history of Transcona and the surrounding Springfield area. Through yearly rotating exhibitions in our public galleries, as well as rotating exhibitions in three off-site locations; Transcona East End Arena, Transcona Legion, and in the Transcona Library. We work to preserve and maintain our artifact and archival collection of over 50,000 artifacts while accepting new donations into our collection. We offer Manitoba Curriculum connected education programs, to educate Manitoba school-age children on the history of the community while exploring the museum and our collections. Our largest artifact is the historic steam locomotive CN 2747 resides in Rotary Heritage Park a short distance away from the museum. The CN 2747 was the first steam locomotive built at the Transcona Shops and in the western region by CN. The museum acquired the engine in 2015 and has been working to preserve the engine through repairs, blast cleaning, and repainting with the help of our volunteers. We are working towards the goal of building a protective structure around the engine.
