About This Cause

The Edmonton Aboriginal Seniors Centre is a membership-based registered charitable organization (No. 120969621 RR0001) governed by an elected volunteer Board of Directors in the City of Edmonton. We are the only Aboriginal Seniors Centre in Canada and a unique resource for Aboriginal seniors living in Edmonton and surrounding areas. Along with providing a meeting and gathering place for social, educational, recreational, spiritual, and inter-generational activities, we offer various daily, weekly, monthly, annual programs and services designed to enhance the quality of life and promote active, healthy living. The EASC offers a drop-in centre, engagement programs, referrals, and outreach services to over 1250 Edmonton Aboriginal older adults, Elders, and seniors. Programs include tax clinics, food security, COVID relief, referrals, outreach, housing, health and physical activities, access to culture and ceremony, and a variety of traditional arts and crafts programs. Through these activities, the EASC has a positive impact on seniors' physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. As a grassroots focused organization, EASC relies heavily on government funding, community support, in-kind donations, and inter-agency resources to support these programs and to provide a safe, inclusive gathering place. Since 1990, the EASC has built a community for senior citizens offering a wide variety of services through strategic and diverse partnerships, resource development, and funding structures to meet the needs of the community.
