About This Cause
The St. Albert Seniors Association is dedicated to improving the lives of older adults with enriching activities and services. It is a gathering place, a resource centre for seniors and a recreational and arts program facility for people age 50 plus in St. Albert and surrounding areas. We offer a wide variety of recreation activities such as fitness classes, arts and crafts, games, field trips, and social events. We also provide assistance to seniors with Meals on Wheels, transportation opportunities, health, housing and financial guidance and outreach to vulnerable members of the community. Membership is open to anyone aged 50 or over. The spouse of a member may join regardless of his/her age. The annual membership fee is $55 per person, renewable January 1. Members can register for classes first and get discounts on classes and events. Non-members are always welcome however you might be charged for some drop-in programs. We have a full service kitchen and lunch is served Monday - Friday from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome. We also offer building rentals and catering for meetings and special occasions. Meals on Wheels is dedicated to supporting the well-being and independence of St. Albert residents by working together with an enthusiastic team of volunteers to deliver nutritious meals to anyone requiring temporary or long term assistance. Our 18 passenger, wheelchair lift equipped bus provides affordable door-to-door transportation within St. Albert. Our Transportation Program offers safe and affordable transportation for seniors 65+ receiving Alberta Seniors Benefits. Our volunteer drivers will pick you up anywhere within the City of St. Albert and drive you to doctor appointments in Edmonton. We offer one-on-one confidential assistance on seniors financial programs, housing options, completion of forms, advance care planning, elder abuse information & support, social & recreation opportunities, accessing personal care and respite, accessing community services and programs for isolated seniors. The St. Albert Seniors Association has one of the best, most committed groups of volunteers in the City of St. Albert. We couldn't operate our centre without the help of our over 200 strong volunteers.
