Options Bytown has been providing safe, affordable, permanent housing with on-site supports for men and women who have been homeless or at risk of homelessness since 1989 CRA# 128142585RR0001. We are recognized leaders in implementing the Housing First Model of supportive housing in Canada. With a staff of 29 full-time employees and 6 part-time employees and over 100 volunteers Options Bytown has proven to be a veritable presence in the nation's capital. We provide housing and supports to 126 tenants in our 4 downtown apartment buildings. We also support approximately 1000 vulnerable tenants living in social housing provided by the two largest social housing providers in Ottawa - Ottawa Community Housing and Centretown Citizens Ottawa. In addition we support another 100 people who have moved from homeless shelters into independent housing throughout Ottawa. Options Bytown provides services to tenants and clients in a way that empowers them to set their own goals and make positive choices to improve their lives. Our support services include counselling, referrals for health, mental health and addictions treatment, crisis intervention, social and recreational programs, job search training and life skills training (personal hygiene, apartment cleaning, cooking, budgeting, relationship building, conflict resolution and the rights and responsibilities of tenants and landlords). These supports help our tenants to live independantly and participate more fully in their community.
