Mission Statement
Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides is a national charity whose mission is to assist Canadians with a medical or physical disability by providing Dog Guides at no cost. With that said, each Dog Guide costs approximately $25,000 to raise, train and match to its handler. The Lions Foundation has seven programs: Canine Vision, Hearing , Service, Seizure Response, Autism Assistance, Diabetic Alert and Facility Support Dog Guides.
About This Cause
They say it takes a village to raise a child: that when the resources, talents, and abilities of many are directed towards the same goal, a collective positive impact results. The same can be said for the work that goes into preparing and providing a Dog Guide to someone who needs its assistance. From foster families who raise the puppies their first year, to people who assist in the kennels and with instructors, to donors and event volunteers who contribute the essential funds for each Dog Guide, everyone makes a difference.
