Burlington, Ontario, L7R 1J4 Canada

Mission Statement

To inspire imagination, collaboration, and compassion to support an informed and literate society.

About This Cause

Burlington Public Library (BPL) is a large urban Canadian library system with seven locations citywide: six full-service branches—Aldershot, Alton, Brant Hills, Central, New Appleby, Tansley Woods—and a small lending collection serving the rural hamlet of Kilbride. Library service began in Burlington in January 1872. The Library belongs to everyone in the community and is free to join if you live, work, go to school, or pay property taxes in Burlington. Every person, regardless of differences, has access to a vast array of resources onsite and online, services, and programs for all ages within a safe and welcoming environment. It is a popular local gathering place and a portal to the global community through the Internet. A City-appointed citizen Board governs the Library, with a Chief Executive Officer responsible for overseeing its operations. Burlington Public Library is a tax-supported, registered charitable organization.
