Mission Statement

Mission Statement: To protect, care for and advance the welfare of animals Etobicoke Humane Society (EHS) is an independent, 100% donation based, all-volunteer, No-Kill, federally registered charity serving the Greater Toronto Area since 1987. As a federally registered charity, EHS operates entirely from donations and our own fundraising efforts. EHS operations are overseen by a volunteer board of directors. Everyone involved at EHS is a volunteer, including our board of directors, shelter volunteers, office volunteers and program coordinators. EHS has no paid employees.

About This Cause

Our services are available for cats and dogs. We moved into our new, rented facility in April 2012, allowing us to offer on-site sheltering and adoption. Off-site fostering is also used to further expand our services for special needs animals. EHS does not euthanize any animal due to lack of space, taking in only those animals for which we have shelter or foster homes. Euthanasia is considered only in the rare instances when a vet determines that it would be the only humane alternative. Further, we do not allow any animal in our care to be used for research. We operate a variety of programs that enable us to achieve our mission, relying on the commitment of dedicated volunteers, supporters and Community members.
