Mission Statement

To provide a safe and supportive environment that strengthens cultural identity, self-esteem and independence for Aboriginal women and their children.

About This Cause

The Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal was established in 1987 as a non-profit, temporary shelter for First Nations, Inuit and Métis women and their children. We provide a safe environment where our clientele can focus on their various challenges and begin the process of rebuilding their lives. Our in-house services combine traditional healing techniques with contemporary approaches to assist the women and children to address their immediate needs while assisting them in re-establishing a balanced lifestyle. Our vision statement is achieving balance through empowered healing.
