Mission Statement

The United Way is a voluntary organization whose mission is to acquire and coordinate resources to improve the quality of life for people in need..

About This Cause

Our United Way serves an area of roughly one quarter of Alberta, from Grande Cache to the NWT border and from Slave Lake to the B.C. border. Incorporated as a Society since 1974. The United Way’s primary objective is to raise funds to allocate to community social profit, and charitable organizations, which in turn allows them to focus on their mandate of providing services. Community impact isn't new to United Way. What is new is our focus. Today’s United Way places more and more emphasis on addressing the underlying causes of social problems. We work to effect long-term changes that can be sustained over time, making a measurable difference in the community, a difference we can demonstrate. Because it takes a whole community working together to change social conditions, United Way works to build partnerships that mobilize communities, agencies, funders and other sectors to achieve shared goals. We have built our Community Impact strategy around the three pillars: Healthy People, Strong Community All That Kids Can Be From Poverty to Possibility
