About This Cause
Society for Autism Support and Services (SASS) is a not-for-profit charitable organization that has been serving Calgary and area for over 40 years. SASS provides specialized education and training, treatment and supports for children, youth and adults with Autism and their families. SASS is unique from other Autism serving organizations across the country: SASS serves the entire spectrum – from Out-of-Home Living placements for the most severely afflicted all the way to academic and/or employment training for those with mild to moderate symptoms, and; over the entire lifespan – from early childhood, to serving youth, adolescents and adults. Whatever your age, needs, or level of functioning, SASS believes in helping each person with Autism achieve their maximum potential. All SASS programs and services are empirically based and designed, implemented, and supported by a multidisciplinary team of professionals. As children are able to be identified and diagnosed with Autism as early as 18 months, SASS provides Early Intervention Programming for children under the age of six in their home, community and within a purpose-built, specialized classroom. SASS' Early Intervention services are appropriate for children with Autism regardless of their functioning level or challenges. SASS’ Out-of-Home Living Program (OOHLP) provides therapeutic, individualized out of home placements for 6 to 17 year old's with Autism. The spaces in this environment are allocated to those families who are in crisis, and are no longer able to parent their son or daughter safely in their homes. The OOHLP targets those with the most complex needs and significant behavioral challenges. SASS also provides programming to increase the personal independence and employment skills of teens with Autism as they transition into and out of high school.
