Everybody is affected by grief at some point in their life. When someone you love dies, the world as you know it changes. Although it feels like you are the only person in the world in this much pain, you are not alone. The BC Bereavement Helpline is the leading organization in the field of grief support and information across the province of British Columbia, directing people to appropriate resources in their community. The Helpline is a toll-free, province-wide helpline open Monday - Friday 9am-5pm and offers extended evening and weekend hours when possible. Volunteers provide compassionate listening and referrals for individuals, family members, caregivers coping with grief and bereavement, or professionals seeking specific services. The Helpline accessible via phone or email, and it is confidential and free. Compassionate and caring volunteers have access to the BCBH Provincial Resource Guide that includes contact information for over 300 grief support services in 85 communities in B.C. BCBH also provides 8-week grief support groups for suicide loss, homicide loss, and toxic drug poisoning loss and administers peer-support groups for pet loss and homicide loss. All funds raised will support the bereaved through these programs.
