To enhance the capacity of individuals and families from different ethno-cultural communities through empowerment, innovation, and well-being based programs and services.

About This Cause

MIAG is a non-profit charitable community organization who strives to address community needs and to ensure the active participation of diverse communities including women, men, seniors, children, youth, and families. We strive to serve the multicultural community of Peel and contributes to facilitating the integration and inclusion of thousands of new Canadians to the ever changing Peel region. Through skills development programs, women capacity building, parenting enhancement, community food security, mental health awareness building, health promotion and recreation programs our organization is able to help community members to enhance their lives quality and to achieve positive changes. Our Programs and Impact on the Community: MIAG offers programs geared towards women, children, seniors and youth from diverse ethno-cultural communities in Peel. We focus on six core areas of service: 1. Community Food Safety: organizing food education and food demonstration sessions as well as offering grocery gift cards for participants. 2. Women skills enhancement: increase immigrant women employability and integration skills, workshops on leadership, capacity-building and domestic violence prevention. 3. Health Promotion and Active Living: group sessions of physical exercise and affordable recreation for women and children in Mississauga. 4. Mental Health: mental health awareness-building highlighting different age groups, intake for counseling services. 5. Seniors based programs: Computer classes for seniors, educational sessions on topics related to elder age groups, offering grocery and PPE packages to low-income seniors. 6. Parenting programs to children from different ethno-cultural communities in their languages such as Arabic, Mandarin, Spanish as well as English. Parent-Teen communication program as well to enhance dialogue between parents and their teenagers. Our objectives are as follows: - To ensure the active participation of diverse communities including women, children, youth, seniors and men in social and health related awareness building and training opportunities. - To enhance the well-being of individuals from ethno-cultural communities through counselling services. - To increase quality of programs and services provided through inter-agency collaboration and partnerships. - To develop materials and resource tools to support the inclusion of diverse communities and the professional development of service providers. - To participate in collaborative based research studies addressing different issues pertaining the diverse communities of Peel.
