Sandgate Women’s Shelter of York Region, Inc. is a feminist organization, dedicated to empowering all persons who identify as women and their children through safe shelter, resources, information and advocacy in order to eliminate violence in their lives.
About This Cause
Sandgate Women’s Shelter of York Region Inc. has been providing all persons who identify as women and their children shelter, support and information so they can take steps towards ending violence and abuse in their lives for almost 25 years. Our services include a 24-hour emergency helpline offering crisis counselling, a 35-bed emergency shelter program (2 shelters), transitional support, second stage housing and a number of community outreach and educational programs for women and their children. Sandgate is an equity-seeking organization committed to working from an anti-racist and anti-oppressive framework and to providing an inclusive space offering facilities for women from the trans community and accessible to women of all abilities.
