About This Cause
As a hub of excellence for hospice palliative care, Hospice Waterloo Region has served our community for over 30 years. We provide clients with a continuum of care from first diagnosis of a life-threatening illness, through end of life, and in bereavement . In addition to 11 hospice residence beds, we offer a medical clinic, program areas for clients and families, counselling spaces, and community education facilities. Each year in the residence over 200 clients and their families benefit directly and free of charge from our services. Additionally, over 1,400 clients are served each year in the community through our many programs and activities. These programs include volunteer visits, “Day Away” respite programs, transportation services, hair salon, support groups and workshops, complementary therapies, individual and family counselling, navigation support, advance care planning consultations, and bereavement supports. Our mandate from the very beginning is to provide ALL of our services free of charge to the community.
