Mission Statement
To empower Hispanic Women in Edmonton to break the cycles of inequity, loneliness, discrimination, poverty, and domestic violence. We do this through targeted training, coaching, and holistic programs that foster strong social and familial bonds, rooted in our rich cultural traditions.
About This Cause
Empowering Latin American Women in Edmonton The Edmonton Hispanic Women's Support Society (EHWSS), established in March 2023 and based in Edmonton, Alberta, is dedicated to supporting women of Latin American origin facing challenges due to isolation, poverty, and domestic violence. We offer all our programs at no cost to our clients, providing them with the necessary tools to thrive in this, their new home. What We Do: We offer a range of programs designed to foster self-esteem and self-confidence, including: - Training Programs: Sessions tailored to enhance health, culture, language and job-related skills and market readiness. - Coaching: Culturally-crafted support to help navigate the challenges of newcomer life, offering guidance and strategies to manage their personal and professional transitions effectively. - Socio-Cultural Activities: Events that celebrate and promote Latin American heritage, creating a sense of community and belonging. - Arts and Sports Programs: Opportunities to explore and develop new skills in a supportive environment. - Guidance and Counseling: Professional advice to promote healthy decision-making and lifestyle. Our Goal: Our mission is to help these women achieve independence and confidence, enabling them to make significant contributions to their families and the broader Edmonton community. We focus on: - Skill Development: Enhancing communication, employment, and social skills for personal and professional advancement. - Income Generation: Empowering women to achieve financial independence through various entrepreneurial and employment opportunities. - Family Relationships: Encouraging family dynamics filled with respect, empathy, and mutual support. - Culture Affirmation: Reinforcing cultural identity through active engagement in cultural recognition and activities.
