About This Cause
Lennon House is supportive residential programing which provides safe, substance-free accommodation with low to moderate intensity of services and a level of support appropriate for longer-term treatment of problematic mental health and substance use issues. Lennon House is suitable for residents who need a safe, supportive environment, away from their usual living situation, to deal with their mental health and substance use. Supportive residential services meet the needs of residents who require additional stabilization, time to build and increase resilience, and support to integrate into the community. Currently Lennon House offers these services to 23 individuals in house and 4 individuals in our newly launched Transitional Housing Program. MEETING THE NEED: SUPPORTIVE RESIDENTIAL SERVICES To date, Lennon House offers the following evidence-based programs: Living in Balance Seeking Safety Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills (DBT) Addictions 101 Other awareness/educational activities and training delivered include: 12 Step Group Mindfulness Codependency Holistic Wellness Spiritual Insights Sharing Group – Up to two residents volunteer to share their story of addiction and recovery Guess the Song - (for fun) Home-like, structured environment supports life skill development: All meals prepared by cook; but cleanup is residents responsibility Weekly chore list for all duties related to maintaining a healthy and clean environment Accountability / medication management Volunteer program to help build resume Lennon House has evolved over the 4 years we have been operational. In February 2023 Lennon House came under the direction of a new Executive Director who came with all kinds of qualifications and over 28 years of work experience in Mental Health and Addictions. She immediately added two new evidence-based programs to the roster (Seeking Safety and DBT) which she facilitated herself. She began to develop and execute a plan to develop our workforce, increase competency and credibility while offering quality programming. We hired two new caseworkers and a program coordinator who are enthusiastic to not only grow as a team, but to increase the competency and continuity of the services offered to our residents. Some of the new approaches and supports that have developed under the new ED are: Case Management Client-centered Trauma-informed Strengths-based support and strengthening resiliency Accountability And we are still evolving! In September 2024 we launched our Transitional Housing Project where individuals who have successfully completed our inhouse program can move into one of four cabins where they will live independently while still under the umbrella of Lennon House. This will increase their stability and resilience for a sustained recovery.
