Mission Statement
Empower Through Music uses the power of music to support the cognitive and emotional development of underserved youth. Using innovative technology, adaptive instruments, and a compassion-driven curriculum, we make music accessible to young individuals challenged by intellectual, social, emotional, or physical obstacles. Our teaching methods have allowed diverse groups of non-neurotypical youth to make music and jam together at their very first lesson. Classroom teachers are always amazed to see such a strong and immediate effect on kids’ attention and focus.
About This Cause
Using our own unique teaching methods that involve technology, accessible instruments and compassion-led curricula, we have made music a beacon of support for the cognitive and emotional development of youth with intellectual, social, emotional, and physical barriers. We are currently working with non-neurotypical youth in the Vancouver School Districts LA/LS programs and the North Shore Disability Resource Centre as well as First Nations Youth through workshops in the Fraser Valley. There are so many underserved youth throughout BC, Canada, and the world who can benefit from learning music, and we want to reach them all! We need your help. We are looking for partners and donors who share our commitment to making meaningful changes in the lives of these kids through music. Our teachers work from a special heart space where small gestures of kindness and patience are coupled with an unwavering belief that music is a universal language. The number of youth we can serve is directly tied to the number of passionate music teachers that we can train, support, and pay a living wage.
