About This Cause

Creating a Future Where 30,000 Women Use Photography to Challenge Gender Inequality by 2030. At Cameras For Girls, we are committed to building a future where young women across Africa have the skills, tools, and opportunities to pursue journalism, photography, and media careers. Through targeted photography and storytelling training, we are breaking down financial, gender, and cultural barriers that prevent women from entering and thriving in male-dominated industries. Our vision is clear: by 2030, we will equip 30,000 women across seven African countries with the ability to use photography for advocacy, financial independence, and gender equality. Why We Give Our Students Cameras to Keep? Access to equipment is one of the greatest barriers to entry for young women in media. Cameras are expensive and often seen as tools meant for men. Without access to a camera, women are denied opportunities to build portfolios, gain employment, and advance their careers. Providing each student with a Canon DSLR ensures that every participant has the foundation to develop their skills, tell impactful stories, and enter the workforce without limitations.
