Mission Statement

The purpose of Bee Ambassadors Canada (BAC) is to advance children’s understanding and appreciation of pollinators and pollination, and provide them with the resources necessary to care for them. This in turn directly and indirectly contributes to climate and planetary health and eases the climate anxiety prevalent in our children. BAC connects this generation of children with the next generation of trees and plants which pollinators and pollination make possible. This is done by: Providing fun, interactive and grade appropriate live-online and in-person presentations about pollinators and other related topics to schools across Canada. Facilitating classroom planting projects to help improve pollinator habitats and biodiversity.

About This Cause

Bee Ambassadors Canada currently offer three live-online presentations that are free to classrooms across the Canada. The first presentation on Pollinators, is a prerequisite for the other presentations, on Honeybees and what pollinators do in winter. The presentations take 25 minutes for JK and K; 30 minutes for Grades 1-3; and 45 minutes for Grades 4-6. All presentations are grade-appropriate and are offered in-person and live online, with songs, dance movements, jokes, stories, and engaging the students as much as possible. Children from JK to Grade 6 learn who the pollinators in Canada are, what pollination is, the differences between a bee and a wasp, a little about native bees and honeybees, why pollinators are so important for a diverse ecology, why they are in decline, and what we can all do about that. Teachers are able to select dates and times suited to their classroom needs from our schedule of available Bee Ambassadors. A Bee Ambassador will connect with the teacher before each session to organize who will send the link for the classroom presentation and to offer suggestions to prepare ahead of time. For example, small children JK to Grade 2 might make paper flowers in advance. So far our presentations have been in over 2,000 classrooms and have reached over 50,000 students. We are currently developing more free presentations, and are investigating the possibility of engaging and paying for indigenous educators to create a presentation that will be offered to teachers across Canada using the Bee Ambassadors Canada platform. Initial reaction from teachers across Canada has been very positive.
