Mission Statement
myFather’s house is on a mission to connect with God, each other, and our community through active service. Our vision is to build a community of believers where the love of God reigns, where leaders are raised and where there is room for everyone.
About This Cause
myFather’s House (MFH) is an inclusive community of believers. We love God. We love one another. We love our community. We hold weekly programs for members and guests to fellowship together and worship God. We study the Bible, pray and worship together in a spiritual atmosphere of love. All these have therapeutic effects, as people are able to practice their religion and also be supported and guided. Apart from spirituality, we engage in various social activities that are very beneficial to our community. These incluses MFH NEWCOMER'S SETTLEMENT - This involves settling of international students and persons under the protected refugee program, who are new to Ottawa. Our team meets new students at the Ottawa airport, and conveys them to their various campuses. We connect those with no pre-arranged accommodation with temporary living arrangements and help them with accommodation searches. We provide weekly cooked native foods to them. We also provide support to women under the protected refugee program and their children. Our Newcomer's settlement initiative provides a 'home away from home' experience to students from African descent and other parts of the world, and also the persons under the protected refugee program. MFH MENTORSHIP & COUNSELLING - As part of our commitment to the academic and career success of our youth & young adults, we connect students with mentors that have passed through the same program they are in, and can provide academic guidance to them. The counselling team Provides counselling and support to youth & young adults on issues of concern MFH ACADEMY - This involves training and developing potential, using skills and talents to build the body of Christ and our community. We provide trainings in accessing information regarding employment, training, financial intelligence and financial freedom. myFather's House Academy organises seminars on career success (resuming writing, interviewing, on the job success), financial intelligence (budgeting, saving, investment) and immigration. MFH WELFARE & OUTREACH - At MFH, we believe that giving is an act of service borne out of gratitude and free of compulsion. The gifts we receive from donors are used to fund our welfare projects and events. Here are some of our welfare and outreach programs: MFH SUPPORTING HERON EMERGENCY FOOD CENTRE Our team visits and donates food to Heron Emergency Food Centre, Ottawa on a quarterly basis. We have consistently done this in the last four years, since the inception of myFather’s House (We visit in April - during Easter celebration, in August - the Summer, and December - during Christmas celebration). MFH SUPPORTING OTTAWA FOOD BANK Our team donates cash to Ottawa Food Bank on a quarterly basis. THE BIG GIVE Every year, (first weekend of June) we mobilise alongside churches across the city of Ottawa and GTA (greater Toronto Area) to bless our neighbourhoods through a unified day of giving extravagantly. We give clothes, shoes, electronics and BBQ – EVERYTHING IS FREE! MFH BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT In an effort to sensitise people and get ready for another school year, every year (Last weekend of August), MFH organises a back to school event in our community. This event includes free BBQ and free school supplies to school age children from JK to Grade 12. We give out school bags, and school stationeries such as notebooks, pencils, erasers, crayons, pens and mathematical sets. MFH WEEKLY COOKED FOOD SUPPLY Our team serves cooked native foods to international students and every member of the church every Sunday after the Church service.
