Food4Kids Toronto ensures no child goes hungry on the weekend. We address hunger in the Toronto Community one food package at a time.
About This Cause
What is Food4Kids Toronto? Food4Kids Toronto provides packages of healthy food for kids aged 4-13 years with limited or no access to food each weekend. Each food package contains 11-12 non-perishable items with maximum nutrient value. The focus is to provide foods from each food group (protein, grains, dairy, etc.) including four (4) servings of fruits and/or vegetables. The students are referred to our program by their school principal and/or administrators. The food packages are assembled by volunteers and delivered to schools each Friday morning to ensure children have nourishment over the weekend. At the school, the food package is placed into the student’s own backpack helping to shield the child from any stigma associated with hunger or receiving food assistance. Each child in the home receives their own food package. While hunger exists around the world, it is our hope to address hunger in our home community. There are thousands of children in Toronto struggling each weekend without food. We are addressing hunger in the Toronto community one food package at a time. It became clear to the community that even with food banks and school nutrition programs, some children are hungry over the weekends and during the summer months. Established in January 2024, our program now supplies 165 healthy food packages each week to three (3) schools in Toronto. We need your support to expand the program to additional schools and kids to meet the needs of the community for each school year. How can you help Food4Kids Toronto? We need your support! Food4Kids Toronto welcomes donations of all shapes and sizes. DONATE non-perishable food items that will be provided to students for their weekend meals. Food donations can be dropped off Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm at our warehouse location. Address: Unit #3-820 Denison St, Markham, ON L3R 5M9 . Give your TIME as a volunteer. Food4Kids Toronto is 100% run by volunteers. We need help with Food Packs, Food Shoppers, Food Drive Coordinators, Delivery Drivers and Fundraising. The cost to feed a child is $15 per week and $780 for a calendar year. Food4Kids Toronto is 100% funded by community donors and one-time grants. Food4Kids Toronto is not in receipt of any core funding.
