Mission Statement

The purpose of the BeaYOUtiful Foundation is to advance health and education by providing self-esteem and confidence building classes for female and non-binary identifying children and youth ages 8 to 14. The organization looks to instil the value of self-worth and support girls in their confidence journey by facilitating supportive mentorship relationships between young girls and empowering women from their own community.

About This Cause

BeaYOUtiful Foundation is a grassroots organization based in Vancouver, BC and is led by over 500 volunteer female mentors from communities across Canada. The organization provides five and six-week confidence programs, one-day confidence workshops and the annual Inspired By HER Conference. To date, the organization has impacted over 5,000 children and youth nationally. As of March 2020, we have seen large shifts in the way that youth receive education and have social relations with their peers and teachers due to COVID19. Our Foundation has continued to breathe light into daily practices of confidence building through these transitions, and our creativity to adapt during this time has sparked new learning opportunities for our foundation. Seeing the success of piloting our first six-week Digital BeaYOUtiful Program in British Columbia, our organization now provides both online and in-person six-week confidence programs for young girls between the ages of 8 to 14. This free youth program focuses, but is not limited to, the the following topics: building greater self-esteem, equality and racism, positive body-image, creating safe spaces, media literacy, and creating achievable goals. The program’s innovation lies in the “Soul Sister” experience, providing one on one mentorship in a facilitated group setting. In each program, a participant will be paired with a female mentor from their own community who will supervise, guide and engage with the participant throughout the five-weeks. At the end of the program, each participant will receive a permission allowing the mentor and mentee to continue interaction and receive support through phone or e-mail, with their guardian’s permission. The role of a mentor is to support and empower their mentee, creating a safe environment to discuss topics such as confidence, mental wellness, diversity and inclusion and goal setting.
