Mission Statement
The Sheen for She Foundation firmly believes that self-care is a human right. Our mandate is to address and prevent the physical and mental health issues of women and youth at-risk due to homelessness, socio-economic factors, sex trafficking, violence, poverty, and addictions by meeting their immediate and long-term needs for self-care, transitional support, safety, food, and self-determination.
About This Cause
The Sheen for She Foundation is an independent registered Canadian charity (#756108486 RR 0001) that supports underserved and at-risk populations of women with immediate and long-term health-care and self-care programs - free of charge. Our core value is that self-care is a basic human right that empowers women to build self-determination and take action against gender-based violence. Sheen for She programs include (1) Corrective and Medical Esthetics to survivors of gender-based violence; (2) Self-Defense Training; (3) Self-Care Training; (4) Crisis Counselling and Social Services; (5) Community Development & Education, (6) Case Management for Survivors, (7) Legal Navigation Program, (8) Job Training & Employment Placement, (9) the Perseverance Aid Project Series, and (10) Harm Reduction. Over the past 5 years, Team Sheen for She has offered gender-based violence support programs and services across Ontario. Our outreach programs have worked with over 5000 women and children who have experienced or witnessed gender-based violence. The Perseverance Aid Project alone impacted north of 10,000 women and children across Ontario. In addition, we have collaborated with over 200 women's shelters, organizations, and centers to expand the reach of our programming to their clients and transition program networks. Our gender-based violence projects have been proudly supported by Red Cross Canada, the Canadian Women's Foundation, Bluebird Self-Storage, York University, and countless community members. Team Sheen for She is proudly led by the communities it serves and applies a feminist, intersectional, trans inclusive, and sex-work positive analysis to all activities.
