Mission Statement
To promote health for individuals in need of emotional healing by providing individual and group sessions that employ active guided relationship exercises with horses as a therapeutic tool.
About This Cause
Heartwood will be providing 2 day workshops that consist of coaching and facilitating participants in a group and individual setting using horses as assistants. Participants will experience group work in circle as well as active work with the horses in groundwork activities. Each participant will experience a minimum of 4 sessions with a horse. All activities are managed in a safe environment and geared to the comfort of the individual. Eight workshops will be offered annually with 6 - 8 participants in each group led by Certified Equine Facilitated Learning Specialists. The participants who benefit from Heartwood’s programs and services include those who have had various forms of traumatic experience.These include: abuse, neglect, deprivation, victims of violence, family dysfunction, bullying, racism, sexual identity and discrimination. Participants are selected by community organizations such as centres for victims of domestic violence, LGBTQS associations and by referral by the individual or concerned family members
