Mission Statement

The BC Dementia Care Society is dedicated to providing social, recreational, artistic, and educational programs, services, resources, and supports to people living with dementia, and their care partners. We prioritize raising dementia awareness, and promoting dementia-friendly, socially inclusive communities.

About This Cause

The BC Dementia Care Society was founded to provide research-based holistic and creative support to people living with dementia and aging in their home, with their care partner. The purpose of our society is to promote health and quality of life for those living with dementia and for those caring for a loved one who is living with dementia, by providing accessible programs with access to related counsel, guidance, advocacy, information, resources or group support programs in British Columbia. Our partnerships include (but are not limited to): Government of Canada Island Health Authority University of Victoria EPIC Some of our current programs, services and resources include: Memory Cafes We CARE Connection Cowichan Valley Dementia Resource Directory Private and Public Sector Dementia-Friendly Certification We value compassion and empathy, inclusivity, holistic well-being, community building and innovation, thus ensuring our programs and services evolve to meet the changing needs of the community we serve. The BC Dementia Care Society consistently delivers programs and services to smaller urban and rural areas, thus filling the gap between larger organizations and those touched by dementia, with a person-centered approach.
