About This Cause

Located in the heart of Hamilton’s North End, the Eva Rothwell Centre partners with families living in poverty, empowering them to become self-sufficient and fulfill their desired potential. With help from community, we strive to provide valuable resources and the support needed for the betterment of lives, as well as the skills and tools required for academic and professional success. The Eva Rothwell Centre officially opened in December 2006 at the former Robert Land School, an elementary school that has been the heart and hub of the neighbourhood for 90 years. When the school closed in 2004, a team of proud North End neighbours and concerned citizens rallied together with the common goal of buying the school and transforming it into a much-needed community centre. In short order, the Robert Land Community Association enlisted the support of generous community partners who invested their money, shared their expertise, and volunteered their time to give back to residents in need. Today, the Eva Rothwell Centre is home to an ever-growing number of programs and services that are greatly helping improve the quality of life and social well-being of the Hamilton community.
