Mission Statement
Partners In Health Canada (PIHC) is a non-profit organization relentlessly committed to global health equity. We will do whatever it takes to bring lifesaving care to the marginalized poor in Haiti or Rwanda or anywhere we work -- because we take the right to universal health care seriously, and because the status quo is unsustainable for those we serve.
About This Cause
The Partners In Health model of care rests on five core principles: - providing universal access to primary health care - removing financial barriers to health care and education for the poor - hiring and training community health workers as the platform for a community-based health system - fighting disease by fighting poverty - partnering with local and national governments Using these principles, Partners In Health has proven that even in the most resource-poor settings, supposedly untreatable diseases such as HIV and multi-drug resistant tuberculosis can be treated successfully. Through these efforts, PIH has helped to change international protocols and shared lessons learned with organizations around the world.
