About This Cause
Flemingdon Park Ministry (FPM) has two main areas of focus in serving the community of Flemingdon Park and the surround neighbourhoods: breaking the barriers of food insecurity and bringing people together to alleviate social isolation. Food security projects include the delivery of food hampers to seniors , hot meal programs for the community, community garden support, and our main project, The Common Table farm and food distribution. The Common Table grows thousands of kilos of fresh produce each year and gives it to the community so that healthy food can get to the tables of those who are unable to do so for themselves. Escalating produce prices and increased food insecurity have made the need for The Common Table produce each season even more pressing. Not only do we farm, but we teach people how to grow food for themselves. All our social programs have growing numbers due to the constant influx of refugees and newcomers coming to our area. We also house a clothing and small housewares bank supported by generous donors. We receive up to 60 people a day in our drop-in program, they appreciate the coffee, the warm atmosphere, the help, and the friendship our dedicated staff and volunteers offer every day with a smile! Overall, FPM cares for people. We want our neighbours to know that they belong, that they matter, and that they are worthy of love and compassion. We want them to be healthy in mind, body and spirit, and we work tirelessly to see to the growing needs of our neighbourhood. FPM does not receive any funding from the government, fulfilling our mission depends solely on the generosity of donors like you, who want to see residents of Flemingdon Park thrive and fulfill their potential.
