Our Mission: help Canadians living with type 1 diabetes(T1D) live, healthier, easier, and safer lives through research funding, support programs, and advocacy.
About This Cause
JDRF is the world's leading research funder and advocate for those living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Our mission is to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications. To accomplish this, JDRF has invested more than $2.2 billion in research funding since our inception. Our focus is a cure; however, we realize that while we are engaged in a process of curing T1D, that a cure is not just a destination but also a journey along a path. We recognize that a part of our mission must be to help Canadians living with T1D along their entire journey to have the greatest impact on their long-term health through early detection and treatment of T1D today to live healthier, easier, and safer lives until we arrive at the end of that path. JDRF Canada is a Canadian-wide organization, governed by a pan-Canadian board of directors. We are an organization built on a grassroots model of people connecting in their local communities, collaborating regionally, and uniting on a national stage to pool resources, passion, and energy. We collaborate with academic institutions, governments, and corporate and industry partners to develop and deliver a pipeline of innovative therapies to people living with T1D. Throughout Canada and six international affiliates, our staff and volunteers are dedicated to advocacy, community engagement, and our vision of a world without T1D.
