Mission Statement

Establish a network of communities leading regenerative development in Nepal and across the Himalayas.

About This Cause

The Kamala Foundation has been working in different communities across Nepal since 2005 with a focus on sustainable development. As Nepal and the world have changed, the Kamala Foundation has grown to be one of the experts in regenerative development: "helping build communities' capacities to use local knowledge, skills and resources to grow support systems which will care for them in the future". Over the last ten years we have invested in a diversity of community-led and integrated projects including:

 ● Almost Heaven Farms -- A permaculture training and resource centre in eastern Nepal.
 ● Mother Earth Children's Home -- A self-sustaining home to care for the children of prisoners (our second children’s home).
 ● Swami Gaun Women's Group -- A zero-waste village project.
 ● Jhiljhile Permaculture Project -- Low-caste empowerment through regenerative agriculture.
 ● Himalayan Nurseries -- Providing high-quality biological resources for communities to protect and regenerate local ecologies.

The Kamala Foundation is now positioned to become one of the leaders in regenerative development in the Himalayan bioregion by way offering the programming and resources required to conduct ecological restoration projects. We are presently based out ofAlmost Heaven Farms, a social enterprise connected to the foundation that is also completely self-sustaining and are engaged in multiple communities throughout the region.
