About This Cause
We envision a food secure Manitoba where everyone has everything they need to eat well, all the time. Our mission is to provide direct support to community partners across Manitoba taking action towards creating and supporting a food secure experience. Our mandate and main activities include: • Resource Northern & Indigenous community partners with adequate tools and supplies to deliver community-based land-based education and community food production programs • Deliver community education programs promoting leadership & capacity development • Engage youth to learn more about how to be change makers in their communities • Facilitate shared learning and encourage collaboration for increase capacity • Create and promote public education for practitioners, the public and policy makers • Provide quality food security curricula and supporting resources to the community development sector • Foster long-term partnerships for improved food program delivery across the province • Collaborate with sector practitioners and community leaders on food system reform Food Matters Manitoba is a registered charity, in existence since 2005. Food Matters is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The project and administration work of the organization is carried out by 9 staff members.
