About This Cause
Beakerhead looks and feels like one of the most engaging and delightful ways you could spend five glorious days in September. Look a little deeper and you’ll see that Beakerhead couldn’t be more important to our future – as individuals, as companies, and as a culture. For decades, we have been streaming people into either technical or creative occupations, and yet it is precisely at their intersection where ingenuity lives. When we separate creativity from art and science, it has consequences for both individuals and the economy. We’ve ended up with people, businesses and environments not reaching their full potential. We talk about innovation but we have trouble igniting it. We simply don’t have the reward systems in place. So how do we fuel this culture of ingenuity that is so crucial to our future? Beakerhead. Beakerhead is a registered charity whose mandate is to advance education at the crossroads of art, science and engineering. Calgary – as an engineering and action-oriented hub – is the perfect home base for this catalyst. Science and engineering just got mainstream – and spectacular!
