Mission Statement
Animals on some First Nation reserves have gone without help for many years. We at SNAPPS have been educating, providing and reassuring pet owners on the reserves since 2010. Spay and neuter is our main focus, but we do help with other emergencies such as injuries and euthanasia. Pet food is available for those in need.
About This Cause
Dogs have always played a significant role in the lives of First Nations people. They relied upon them to help hunt, work, and provide food, wool and companionship. They were the subjects of First Nation myths and legends passed down over generations. Today these same dogs (with cats included) are generally in poor health. There has always been an accepted way of life for these reserve, or ‘rez’ dogs, and cats, but the time has come to make a change in our attitude towards our fellow companions and promote responsible pet ownership!
