Mission Statement
To provide a clubhouse setting for peer support counselling for people with schizophrenia through telephone, email, and texting to provide performing space for members who are poets, writers, and visual artists. Our belief is that peer support sessions and experiences greatly reduce hospital time and episodes. Our other beliefs are people with schizophrenia have heightened imaginations which make them often already wonderful writers and visual artists, and through finding those parts may become artists and writers themselves.
About This Cause
conceived and founded by jordan stone 2006 and incorporated that year the secret handshake has been in its current clubhouse 170A baldwin st Toronto since 2012 and before that on mutual st in Toronto and the earliest creators of its inseption were jordan stone, anne abraham, bill bissett, mark belvedere, and helen lasebnik of the keith juriansz law firm. Helen walked us through h organized with us all the legal steps of incorporating the secret handshake. Since that time we have produced hundreds of poetry readings for members, art shows, art openings, and thousands of peer support hours and sessions.
