Empowerment Through adventure, play, and discovery, we encourage and empower the children and youth at the centre to develop healthy lifestyles, to learn strong, life skills and a sense of social responsibility. 3. Collaboration We work together with families and volunteers in partnership with the public and private sector, to create healthy community solutions to provide children and youth with what they need for optimal development.

About This Cause

The Blenheim Youth Centre (BYC) is open every weekday during the school year as well as throughout the summer, where young people of the Blenheim community and surrounding areas (ages 10-18) can gather together in a safe environment to feel welcome and to continue to learn and develop appropriate life and social skills. We work with youth to become more Independent, helpful, and aware. We engage them in community activities and give them every opportunity to thrive and grow in to strong, confident young adults. We currently see approximately 20-25 youth each day and see the need in our community for the programs we execute. Since opening we have registered over 1200 youth members. The BYC allows the youth of Blenheim and surrounding areas to engage in safe, meaningful social, recreational and educational activities. The activities and programs available at our facility keeps them off the streets, prevents vandalism and violence and allows them to develop and build acceptable social, personal and professional relationships. Employment skills such as resume and cover letter writing and interview skills are also a main area of focus. Daily life skills such as time management and decision making allow the youth of our community to grow and thrive. Our programs also address proper nutrition, promote healthy active living and the importance of being involved in the community.
