Mission Statement
The CJPME Foundation is a charitable, non-profit, volunteer and secular organization, dedicated to helping Canadians better understand human rights and aboriginal rights in Canada and internationally. The CJPME Foundation pursues its mandate by producing expositions, publishing reports, hosting seminars and workshops, providing internships, training youth, and donating to charitable humanitarian programs.
About This Cause
The CJPME Foundation was established with the charitable purposes below: 1. To undertake research and publish reports relating to: a. Human rights and aboriginal rights law in Canada and internationally b.The actual implementation of human rights and aboriginal rights law in Canada and internationally 2. To produce art expositions, film festivals and related arts festivals for the purposes of educating and advancing the public’s practical understanding of human rights and aboriginal rights in Canada and abroad. 3. To educate the public by hosting public seminars and workshops featuring Canadian and international experts on human rights and aboriginal rights issues 4. To advance education by providing research internships to university students on human rights and aboriginal rights issues in Canada and abroad 5. To educate the public by delivering courses, workshops and resources to community partners (universities, schools, faith institutions, unions, community groups, etc.) in the law and practice of human rights and aboriginal rights. 6. To educate youth and activists by hosting training programs and workshops in “leadership in justice” on human rights and aboriginal rights. 7. To gift funds to qualified donees as defined in subsection 149.1(1) of Canada’s Income Tax Act. a. To donate to charities (e.g. World Vision) to relieve poverty and misery by providing basic amenities including food, clothing and shelter to the poor, refugees and dispossessed. 8. To advance the human rights and aboriginal rights education of students attending university in Canada (e.g. McGill, Concordia, UofT, Carleton, etc.) by providing books, reports and other educational aids. 9. To uphold the administration and enforcement of human rights law and aboriginal/Indigenous rights law by monitoring and reporting on the implementation of human rights law and by seeking legal remedies as deemed necessary in specific situations. 10. To uphold human rights and aboriginal/Indigenous rights by preparing and disseminating reports, holding workshops and seminars, distributing material that increases public knowledge, and by providing commentary and recommendations to various levels of government.
