Mission Statement

Our mission is to reduce poverty by advancing science education and enabling innovation in low-resource communities. We do this by: Training science teachers to incorporate hands-on STEM activities that foster scientific thinking and creative problem solving, using low-cost and locally-available materials. Providing hands-on, collaborative workshops to enable local changemakers to shape their community.

About This Cause

Pueblo Science is a registered Canadian charity founded by scientists, engineers and educators in 2010. Since then, Pueblo Science's local and international programs have impacted an estimated 550,000 children and 5,500 teachers in seven countries. We have also trained over 1,200 Canadians to develop and deliver our in-person and online programs in Canada and the developing world. Pueblo Science currently has programs in Canada, the Philippines, Indonesia, Guyana, and Jamaica that engage youth and their teachers in STEM. Canadian Programs: 1) STEM enrichment in Indigenous Communities is a yearlong collaboration with First Nations schools in Ontario. We virtually visit the classrooms and lead the students in performing hands-on STEM activities. Since 2020, we have worked with over 500 students from K to 12. 2) Science in the Community is a yearlong collaboration with school boards and community centres to engage youth in science. Our volunteer instructors work with teachers in providing fun and hands-on science activities in classrooms and with students in creating their science fair projects that are relevant to their communities. Online Programs Since 2020, we have developed three online STEM programs for K–12 students, enabling them to explore science at home through engaging, play-based activities: Virtual Classroom Visits - We conduct virtual classroom visits worldwide, facilitating interactive and hands-on STEM activities throughout the year.
