Mission Statement
Team Unbreakable is a non-profit organization focused on supporting youth mental health. It offers programs that promote physical activity and mindful self-management strategies. Our primary goal is to emphasize the link between physical and mental health. Our mission is to deliver an effective physical activity program that promotes mental well-being, prioritizing equity and inclusivity in everything we do. We have developed a free mental health program for youth based on research that shows running positively impacts mood and promotes self esteem. Our structured 8-week running program includes specific step-by-step physical and mental health modules, along with individual tracking logs to monitor progress. The Team Unbreakable program aims to empower youth by promoting mindfulness and resilience. It guides participants on a journey of self-discovery while providing them with skills to prevent mental health issues and maintain positive mental health throughout their lives. Team Unbreakable also hosts annual 5K events, giving youth the chance to celebrate their learning, training, and accomplishments. These events bring together participants, program leaders, families, and community members to raise awareness about youth mental health issues.
About This Cause
Team Unbreakable is a charitable organization dedicated to promoting youth mental health and physical wellness through structured running programs. With partnerships in schools, Family Health Teams, and community organizations across Ontario, we reach over 2000 youth participants annually through our programs that can be delivered by volunteer educators and community leaders. Our core program is an 8-week curriculum available in both English and French, tailored for elementary and secondary school students. Designed to align with the Ontario Health and Physical Education Curriculum (grades 1-12), our program provides educators, community leaders, and healthcare advocates with comprehensive resources, an interactive website featuring weekly presentations, videos, training schedules, and participant running logs. The physical component of our program is centered on a structured running plan that teaches students how to train, stretch, fuel their bodies, and build resilience. Complementing this, our mental health curriculum includes essential modules on motivation, gratitude, self-compassion, social connections, goal setting, and mindfulness. Each week, participants engage in step-by-step lessons that support both their physical and emotional growth. Beyond the classroom, Team Unbreakable supports volunteer program leaders by offering annual training, ongoing resources, and mentorship. A highlight of our efforts is organizing and supporting annual 5K goal events, such as the Bold and Cold 5K and the Fun and Fearless 5K, where youth come together to celebrate their progress and achievements in a supportive and uplifting environment. Through our evidence-based approach, Team Unbreakable is making a lasting impact on youth across Ontario, equipping them with the skills to strengthen both their bodies and minds.
