About This Cause
WHO WE ARE Altalma Foundation is a charitable, non-profit organization created to support economic development in Canada and to bridge the gap between corporations and local stakeholders. We are committed to help improve both corporate social responsibility efficiencies and environmental awareness. We believe the long-term future of Canada is best served by respecting the interests of all our stakeholders, including: corporations, government, wildlife and community members. VISION Altalma Foundation believes that all Canadians should have access to: • Honest and satisfying ways to make a living • The basic requirements of a healthy community including ample food, clean water, power and access to essential services • A healthy environment to raise a family VALUES “Altalma”. A soaring name that blends 'Alta', meaning high, with the name 'Alma', meaning kind soul. Altalma’s values can be summarized by using the word SOUL. We value: • Stakeholders—respect and understanding for all communities and stakeholders • Outlay—believing that change doesn’t happen overnight, but investing in long-term, sustainable projects will build vibrant communities. • Unite—staying accountable to all stakeholders and adhering to high moral standards in all of our endeavors. • Live—a world where each person has access to ample resources and is able to realize their full potential. PROJECTS More than 800 million people—many of them members of indigenous or traditional communities—live without basic water and sanitation. In Canada First Nations represents more than 50 nations and 50 indigenous languages from 634 communities in Canada. Many of these communities have been living under a boil water advisory for decades. Collecting the water with a pot and putting it on the stove to boil has become a routine to avoid contracting water-borne illnesses. Altalma Foundation is committed to improve health in Canada with sustainable clean water solutions. Many First Nations Reserves and Indigenous Communities throughout Canada do not have access to clean water or renewable energy. The purpose of this project is to provide First Nations Reserves and Indigenous Communities with education, training, skills and, project implementation for clean water and renewable energy on their land. One of our goals is to support the education and infrastructure development with First Nations Reserves and Indigenous Communities. Our programs and projects provide consulting services for the full life cycle of a clean water or renewable energy project. We also provide educational programs for enhancing leadership skills, water/wastewater and renewable energy education and, experiential learning.
