Mission Statement
Coco’s Place Foundation / La Fondation Place Coco is a federally registered charity (855211629 RR00001). The primary mission is to manage and support The Little Red Playhouse, a bilingual early inclusive education and intervention center located in Montreal West, Quebec. The organization also supports families and caregivers of persons with disabilities, with a focus on neurodiversity (Autism) and provides training and capacity building.
About This Cause
The foundation focuses on advocacy and consulting across a range of projects, including research, housing, employment, cross-jurisdictional policy, and benefits. It also manages and operates the The Little Red Playhouse. The Little Red Playhouse (LRP) is an inclusive early education facility offering evidence-based services since 2008. Our morning programs include Tots, Little Learners, Pre-K Prep, Pre-K, Coco’s Camp (ages 3-5), and Camp Next Steps (ages 5-12). In the afternoons, we provide social skills programs, playgroups, and Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI). Among many other skills, we thrive to teach cooperation, self-respect, respect of others, receptive and expressive language, problem solving, autonomy and independence. The approach of the preschool offers much needed 1:1 or 1:2 individualized programs for our learners to further promote skills that children need, for example; communication, life skill development, and social appropriateness through peer activities and daily interaction. The Little Red Playhouse supports more families per year than our local service centers and it receives no provincial funding. It operates as a not-for-profit, federally registered children's charity. Our goal is to buy our facility from the School Board in order to have future sustainability. With the increase rates of diagnosis, and reduction in government supports for families, it is more important than ever to keep the mission of the school alive and operating. We count on generous donors to make this a reality.
